201191 2003-12-17 04:43:00 I seem to be losing my desk top background picture. There is now a 20mm gap between the side of the screen and the picture. Is there a fix for this ie.something in settings somewhere? and if not should I be concerned that it is a problem with the monitor.I have a virtually new LCD monitor.Changing the picture did not fix the problem. All ideas/fixes most welcome.
Thanks DD.

201192 2003-12-17 05:00:00 Is the gap black that is around your desktop picture, and you can't move your cursor onto it? If so, you will need to look at the settings for your new LCD monitor - it probably hasn't had the settings adjusted. Have a look at your LCD monitor for how to adjust the horizontal and vertical postion/size. Some monitors will have an Automatic adjustment button on the monitor that will do this for you. Also have a look at what resolution you have your desktop set on. Right-click on the desktop > Properties > Settings tab. Jen C (20)

Oops - that should read "Have a look at your LCD Manual ..".

201194 2003-12-17 05:15:00 Under display settings, desktop, make sure "stretch" is set. This will depend on your version of Windows, but its likely your new monitor is simply higher resolution than the picture. The stretch setting resises the picture to fit automatically.

Make sure you run the monitor at its "native" resolution, or the display will be less than optimum sharpness.

201195 2003-12-17 05:35:00 Thanks for the help, the problem has now been rectified,Jen ,you were right on the button with the settings on the monitor,I hit auto and bingo fixed.Although I have hit the buttons on the monitor before I never knew what they did,so stayed away from playing around for fear of upsetting something. And godfather, thanks for the second piece of advice.
Cheers for that, DD
