201722 2003-12-19 05:17:00 recently i downloaded the latest version of AVG virus scanner and installed it on my windows xp computer.
the install went perfect and then when i restarted my pc and logged on it just turned my computer off and restarted it. it carried on doing this until i went into safe mode and removed AVG then there were no problems.
what could i do to fix it and use the software?
any one else had this?
thanks

201723 2003-12-19 05:32:00 Gosh, haven't heard of this happening before . :O

First of all you need to disable the restarting of Win XP and have it display an error message instead .

Go to Windows Key+Pause to bring up System Properties box, click on Advanced Tab>Startup and Recovery Settings and remove tick from "Automatically restart" . Ticks should be in the two boxes above .

You should now get an error message - copy it exactly and post it here for diagnosis .

You could also download another copy of AVG and try installing that in case the first one was corrupt .

201725 2003-12-20 00:37:00 You must uninstall norton antivirus before you can use avg. ugh1 (4204)

not quite. you can have both installed but you can only RUN one at a time.
