201738 2003-12-19 07:18:00 Has anyone else had this problem?

When I send an e-mail on stationery from the drop-down list in OE ( I used 'citrus punch' ) the Norton antivirus scan stops at 45% completed. It hangs until I remove it with Task Manager - has happened both times I used the stationery.
The e-mail did not arrive at its destination, although OE put it in my Sent folder - nor was it returned to me as unsent.
I could not find any reference to this problem at Symantec's site or on Google.

201739 2003-12-19 07:35:00 Yes, that has been reported here in the past. The advice has been to disable scanning of outgoing emails as that should not really be necessary as any viruses should be picked up long before. Susan B (19)
201740 2003-12-19 08:04:00 Thank you Susan B.
I had searched PressF1 but could not find a reference to this. Would it be best to just disconnect the antivirus when I use the special stationery? It is not as if I use it every day.

The nuisance with it causing the email not to be actually sent is that I now realise that the other ordinary emails in the send queue would also probably not have reached their destinations because the NAV would not have let them through either.

I think it would probably be best to look in Norton's Preferences/Options and disable outgoing email scans. That would save you the hassle of disabling and perhaps forgetting to re-enable NAV each time you want to send emails.

201743 2003-12-19 10:56:00 Presumably you have Norton AV scanning all the time, so your computer should be virus free. Scanning of outgoing emails should therefore be deselected.
Probably other email programs do the same, but I found that IE6 treated an email as having been sent as soon as the virus checker took over and the email was never actually transmitted.
