| 202055 | 2003-12-23 04:29:00 | Right then, Had a word with the tech dude today and says there is a major fault in ie somewhere, he wants the original restore disks so he can put it back the way it was. Are you all saying that win98 wont recognise the 40gig drive? Please forgive me if i am being a little vague, had the day from hell, wake me when xmas is over mike |

| 202056 | 2003-12-23 04:35:00 | it's not wether win98 will recognize the whole size of the drive it's wether the bios will........if not you got two options .........update the bios or get a ide controller card, (this will by pass your bios) as for what yoru tech says........if there IS a major fault in IE then all he needs to do is remove it.................(use IERadicator) and thAT'LL remove ALL of IE.........then reinstall........ |

| 202057 | 2003-12-23 04:37:00 | The only difference is the size of the drive... guess then that would be the problem, if any. If that is the problem, possibilty for your Tech to just FDISK an 8 Gig partition and format that only. Then install from recovery disks. Then use Partition magic to extend the partition to the whole drive. Personally, I would have thought that the recovery disk should work anyway. Good luck and hope there is a better day for you tomorrow :) |

| 202060 | 2003-12-24 09:45:00 | sorry drcspy, since i have had the comp it as been to the docs a few times because i have screwed the software up, have learnt by my mistakes! I think the 40gig hdd cost around $350 installed and the ram was about 150, today cost me 140, so maybe $800--$1000 might be closer |
