202229 2003-12-22 23:48:00 Hello,
I don't have a Firewire Port on my computer and i don't particularly want to install one. Is there any easy way of Transferring Video using the Firewire port on my digital video camera to the USB 2.0 port on my Computer ?

Thanks in Advance

202230 2003-12-23 00:12:00 are you sure your camera doesnt have USB interface as well as firewire?

a (quick!) search on www.belkin.co.nz and http: turn up nothing. u could try a more detailed search yourself.

202231 2003-12-23 00:16:00 IEE1394 and USB are not compatible. :D

I see that DSE have a PCI adaptor card for $39, a PC Card adaptor is more --- $94.

That's probably the best way to go. The manufacturer put Firewire on the camera for the speed, and I believe it is actually faster (in the real world, not just the specification) than USB 2.0 .

202233 2003-12-24 01:01:00 WAIT! before you do there is a pci card that has both firewire (x3, 2 for extarnal, 1 for internal) and usb 2.0 (x2, full speed i would imagine)

Belkin Firewire/USB combo card (catalog.belkin.com %2F)

202236 2003-12-24 03:19:00 Well i already have six free USB 2.0 ports which i can't see will be used in the forseeable future, so i'll just stick with the standard Firewire Card.
