202172 2003-12-22 16:24:00 My mother board was made in 1997 and just near the processor there's a slot which is brown.half the size of a pci slot.It looks like an agp slot but my dad reckons during 1997 agp wasn't developed yet.
How can i find my mother board's model number so that i can check if it does have an agp and if it supports usb2.My dad says the motherboard won't detect usb 2.But usb 1 works...
Any programs out there that has the ability to read my mother boards model number?

202173 2003-12-22 17:16:00 AIDA32 will not only give you the details you want about your motherboard, but it will tell you more than you ever thought you wanted to know about everything else in your system.
No, I'm not an expert - just downloaded it last week as an experiment & was amazed.
You'll find it on a Google search, as I did.
And yes it's free.

202174 2003-12-22 19:48:00 Chances are on an older board like that it is a Communications riser or something in that vein... I'd be surprised if it was AGP.

On _most_ M/B's the model number is printed between the PCI/ISA slots as a general rule.

The brown slot next to the the first white pci slot. The brown slot is half the size of the pci slot.

202177 2003-12-23 19:01:00 Yes, that is a PCI slot. tommy (2826)
202178 2003-12-23 21:19:00 It is an AGP slot and it looks like a USB connection to the top right but, this is an FIC board, you say your's is an Asus Want to re-check that?

BTW. USB 2.0 was not around in 97.

202179 2003-12-23 23:45:00 Oh my goodness, I must have had too much eggnog. What I should have said was "yes that is an AGP slot" not PCI. Very sorry about that. tommy (2826)
202180 2003-12-24 12:55:00 Here is a question

The 3rd pci slot on my computer has another about 5 cm brown slot next to my pci slot .What type of slot is that?

Goes like this|------| |---|
Ok..The left hand side is the pci slot which is white and next to it about 1cm gap next to it on the right there's a brown slot which is about 5cm long.
What is that?
IF my computer detects usb1.1 would it detect usb2 also?
