202560 2003-12-26 10:10:00 Can any one else recall the DSE ad" the new 20 meg HDD all you will ever need) lol

I had a 286 with 2, 20meg hardrives then upgraded it to 1, 100 meg HDD
That was when the rule of thumb was a $1.00 a meg.
Lucky that rule of thumb went west. I have a 40G one now!

Did I ever say that using WinXP is a crime? You jumped in and wanted to be counted as a Linux user. For me I use WinXP most of the time and try Linux 10% of the time. I keep saying that Linux isn't for everyone but for those people who want to use it then that's OK by me.

I'm sorry but I just used yours and chills posts in this thread and other posts you have both made. It was not a personal attack.

You can stay and I will go. I take it my opinions are not relevant then.

C'mon you two, pull it together...

You both use a PC, so surely you can put aside your differences in Operating system prefences and get along....?

Was it Bill Gates who was quoted saying "Nobody will ever need more than 640kb memory"?

Or was it that Dude from IBM?

202566 2003-12-27 00:49:00 >OK. That's your opinion. I might add that you have not counted yourself on PressF1 as running Linux as your one and only O/S. Is this because you do use Windows from time to time?
You make it sound as if my opinion has no merit.
I don't run Linux as my one and only OS. I started off with Dos3 and have been moving up over the years and having created a few Windows programs I have to retain Windows to continue supporting them. Once I understand Linux better I plan on porting them over to Linux but at the moment I dual boot.

The post was not started in anyway to be a Windows bashing fest. In fact if you look at Tedheath's post he started slinging first but I will give him credit for wanting to learn more.

Linux has not been around for nearly as long but things will change as more and more use Linux. It is just the way a market works but markets are always changing.

If the above is refering to me you are way off base but I do realise one or two do that. Your best bet is to just ignore it as generally I ignore anyone with extreme views.

You realise that schools are often offered "incentives" for offering certain courses. Of course that doesn't happen :\

We are pointing out alternatives where they exist. To suggest installing Linux for all Windows problems would be rather silly and of course Linux users are not silly (ok some might be, but there are silly Windows users also).
