202306 2003-12-23 05:03:00 One reason why I thought I would try to clarify things is that I don't think I can run MacOS on my IBM compatible.

I do know of a person who tried a Windows emulator on a Mac though.

It still woudn't run Microsoft Flight Sim 2002 which is why he traded the Mac for a Windows box.

the loving feeling between billy and macs has gone...

202308 2003-12-23 05:17:00 I think it's more that Microsoft is trying to get people who love using MS Office on Mac to switch to Windows.

Fat chance, IMO, but I reckon it's something along those lines.

202309 2003-12-23 06:06:00 Its because due to small market share, the cost of developing for the mac isn't returned in sales.

Long gone are the days when a mac was a better performer then the pc,wether its photoshop or movie editing or number crunching the pc outperforms the mac by a wide margin.

Recent benchmarks even had a mac with dual 2ghz cpu's getting spanked by reguler AMD and Intel powered system.

Expect Apples market share to decrease even more

202310 2003-12-23 06:17:00 Heh heh, good timing on this topic. I just bought a second hand imac. It's running os x version 10.3 and I think I am in love. If I want to play prince of persia or max payne 2 then I'll go play on the PC, but I must say this thing spanks the pants of the PC for everything else. BIFF (1)
202311 2003-12-23 06:21:00 Good point there Metla.

And for the Price of a new Desktop PC (Or Build ya own) compared to a Mac, adding to the fact that the Vast majority of PC's are based on the x86-Architecture (Intels, AMD's etc), I cant see why people would want to fork out the extra for a Mac?

Bearing in mind last time I used one was a little over a year ago, Things may have changed....

It is being a little unrealistic to expect Flight Sim 2002 to run well on an emulator such as Virtual PC as you also need a good PC for it to run efficiently.
Most PC programs will actually work very well using Virtual PC on a Mac

Who needs MS Flt Sim anyway when there is an excellent Flight Simulator called
X-plane (http://x-plane.com/) which in my opinion is superior.
It is available for PC and Mac
It also has FAA approval for training towards commercial pilots certificate.

It is not difficult to understand as Mac OS X 10.3 Panther is a very stable and solid operating system and is based now on pure solid Unix.
The result is a new front end and some very solid Unix technology under the bonnet. Mac OS 10.3 or Panther is more stable, more capable and more adaptable that any Macintosh operating system before it.

panther is a special breed of cat (www.usatoday.com)
