Im running pentium 4, 60Gb hdd and 240meg Ram
The package I got with dvd writer was nero with nero vision etc and the damn message that comes up with that is I gotta buy some codecs from Nero to run mpeg etc. Great eh?!

202591 2003-12-31 21:29:00 well i have a pentium 3 800 with a dvd rom and it works fine no jumping or skipping and its smooth as (ive only got a 32 meg 2x agp vid card 256 megs sdram 133), my mate just bought one of them $1000 pc's from the warehouse (celeron 2.2 ghz cpu with built in video) and he bought a dvd rom and i installed it and that runs perfect as well.. no skipping.. so with your pc specs (which leaves mine and the mates in the dust) u should have no trouble at all.. but theres a simple fix.. download ffds direct show filter, install it and in the configuration.. go to codecs and select Mpeg2 and in the drop down list in the box, it will be disabled but select "libavcodec" reboot and try again. If that doesnt work (and id be very very very very very very veryyyyyyyyyyyyy surprised if it didnt) hmmm, i think your setup needs some looking at

Cheers
