When I press the power button on my ATX computer, it goes to sleep rather than shutting down. It works if you hold it for 4 seconds (but that's an improper shutdown), and to turn on the computer. When I try to change it in the power properties in Control Panel, there is no option for what to do when the button is pressed. I run Windows 98 on a Celeron 366. |

You need to change it in the bios which you get to usually by pressing the Del key on bootup. |

Does it shut down by using the proper sequence? ie "Start - Shut Down"

Win 98 normally shuts itself down when closed down so why do you need to press the Off button to switch it off? |
