202973 2003-12-27 09:29:00 Ahh, Susan! Brings back fond memories of bashing up and down the Ashley, puddle jumping, as one of my mates used to unkindly call it. For the bigger, unexpected puddles you need to have the right gear on, snorkel, and a decent tool kit to partially dismantle the bike to dry it out but they do float better than people when you have all the clobber on. Pisses the anglers off no end too, some hoon "on" a bike floating past all the while strangling the throttle so it doesn't suck any water back up the exhaust. Does wonders for a peaky 2 stroke motor that likes to have a particular back pressure to operate at optimum.

I've only just worn out my last pair of gloves working on the roof lifting asphalt, the extra protection on the back of the fingers and knuckles is perfect but the extra soft, stretchy leather doesn't last long.

What sort of beasty do you ride?

202974 2003-12-27 10:27:00 Dolby: I used to ride a little road bike quite a few years ago but wouldn't have the nerves to do that now - too many idiots on the road out to get you. :-(

Murray: LOL I try and avoid going through puddles of all sizes - don't really like ending up looking like this (www.mscandy.orcon.net.nz) :p.

My beasty is this one (www.mscandy.orcon.net.nz), a Honda XR 200. It is getting on in years but gets me around where I want to go. Is better than the XR 175 that I had before graduating to this one anyway. :-)

202976 2003-12-28 04:53:00 Hey Susan
Was the sound of your bike the reason the Kiwis went into hiding @ Willowbank?

Lol, The bulging pockets are a dead give away . I used to prefer a lighter and tighter jacket for off road . You could stike out for shore without all that drag in the pockets, etc, sucking you down . Not much fun on a cold day or in scrub tho . Loved racing up the shallows, requires a bit of concentration with big, round, slippery rocks like to jump out at you all the time, trying to flick your grip off the bars . Used to look forward to my trips down to Rangiora .

Have also done a fair bit of touring around both Islands but my biking days came to a violent and sticky end some time ago .

202979 2003-12-28 19:43:00 Oh well. At least now you have something to keep yourself warm with during the colder winter months. somebody (208)

That is what I really want . :-(

No, they were frightened off by the din of Pollly's terrified knees knocking together after I prised her off the seat . :p :D

Have another look - I just gotta show off . ;-) :D

> I'm waiting for the one taken in Woolies (oops)

But I haven't yet been guaranteed a Mac if I do it . :-)

Murray: Sounds like you used to be a bit of a demon . :D The boys try and push me to my very limit each time we go for a ride and are confident that I'll be doing the mud and snorkel thing by this time next year . Ha, they wish! :p :D

Sorry to hear that you had to give up . An accident? :-(

OK, that's not me in those two pics but the boys are working on it! :p
