| 203428 | 2003-12-26 22:54:00 | Hi, My parents brought a PC comapany computer in 2000 with a DVD drive (Samsung SD 608). Anyway the computer had hardware problems so my parents brought a new PC box (Not from PC Co! :-) ) in October without a DVD drive. So I just put the Samsung DVD drive in the computer and XP has found it OK. However I can't find the DVD decoder software that came with the old PC (Anyway it probably wouldn't work since it was for Win98...). Can anyone recommend a DVD decoder for XP? Another option is that I buy a new DVD drive for my parents computer (Since it would have the DVD software). Since I am intending to buy a new computer early next year for myself, I could put the Samsung in my new computer with another CDRW/DVD drive. Then I can set one drive to Region 1 and one to Region 4. If I go this way would the DVD decoder on my new computer work with the Samsung? I assume that the DVD decoder software is independent of the driver software. Cheers |

WinDVD or PowerDVD (latest versions of either) . I think Advantage sells WinDVD for about $25 (I could be wrong though) . > I assume that the DVD decoder software is > independent of the driver software . Correct . Mike . |
