| 203101 | 2003-12-25 23:25:00 | Windows 98 SE OS. On startup I get this message. Net show distributed COM has either not been installed or is not enabled on this computer. Some Netshow Presenter functions may not function properly. Please explain what this means and how I correct it. Also, I have a problem with a Brother Laser printer HL-1230 which prints out okay but the pages are smudged with ink. Thanks for the help. |

| 203102 | 2003-12-26 01:41:00 | With your laser printer what type of smudges are you getting? These type of problems are hard to solve without seeing a printout. Could be anything from a faulty toner cartridge, drum unit or a problem with the fusing unit. Might be best to take it in to be looked at by the experts. As for your other problem it looks like Win98 is looking for a programe called Netshow. Have you installed this at some stage and have recently deleted it? If you have, did you use the Uninstall program ( assuming it had one) to remove it or did you delete it manually? If it had an Uninstall prgram you might try reinstalling and deleting it again using the uninstall programe again. I have heard that sometimes these programes don't remove everything. You might have to go into the registry and manually remove all traces of it. Also you might have to look in the Win.ini file (use sysedit) and look at the lines starting with load= and run=, the Start Up folder is another place to look. Hope this helps. Jeff. |

I can only describe the printer smudge as greying ink-like type of smudge on the background so that the paper no longer looks really white. The font and text are prefect. I have cleaned the drum unit corona wire as the manual suggested but it did not solve the problem. Any other suggestions will be appreciated. |
