| 203287 | 2003-12-26 15:40:00 | I have a scanner.A very old scanner.It was made in 1995 i think.IT worked with windows 95 in the past but after upgrading to windows98se the computer just won't detect my scanner.The scanner turns on.It plugs in.IT doesn't use usb.I am not sure what the card that it slots into is called.The scanner plugs into a card.The card is slotted into a black port.ITS situated underneath the pci slots on my motherboard. What is this slot called? What is causing my computer to not detect my scanner? Theres no such thing as the scanner is too old win98se wont detect it is there? |

| 203288 | 2003-12-26 20:14:00 | Did your computer ever auto-detect that scanner? Why don't you just install the drivers/software that came with it? Following the scanner's installation instructions might help, especially if your computer is a little too old for auto-detection of hardware. | Susan B (19) | ||
| 203289 | 2003-12-27 02:22:00 | That card will probably be a "mini-SCSI" interface, plugged into an ISA socket. It won't be plug and play, so it won't be detected. If you haven't got the software floppies which came with the scanner, it will be best to try google to see if you can download some software. If, for example, the scanner is an (invented model) Mustek X235 enter mustek x235 W98 driver download to google. You might be lucky. :D |

| 203291 | 2003-12-27 03:24:00 | Have you tried making sure the scanner is powered on before you boot the PC? My current (SCSI) scanner only worked under Win98SE if I did the above, or (speaking from memory now) I powered on the scanner, went into Device Manager and clicked "refresh". HTH |
