2003-12-26 04:47:00 Just noticed to related programs on my computer, Internet Optimizer and Active Alert. To me they look suspicious but don't won't to add more programs like adaware and spybot unneccercarily. Could someone please enlighten me as to what these programs are and whether they should be uninstalled, as I didn't knowingly install them myself. Craig (448)
2003-12-26 04:57:00 I once had Internet Optimer. It takes over completely the dial up configuration and loads itself into the registry as it makes the recipient of it's software use a 'proxy' server which you may never have asked for.
Uninstallation is difficult but not impossible. There are a few good posts in F1 to look for in getting rid of this sort of thing that saved the day for me.

2003-12-26 05:10:00 Is it possible that these are harmless and just part of an automatic ihug internet connection setup program? Craig (448)
2003-12-26 05:16:00 I think you have aqquired some spyware or at least unhelpful internet helpers. You should at least get either Ad-aware or Spybot Search & Destroy installed and run. I consider both of these program very worthwhile having.
