1330198 2013-02-26 06:55:00 It is a 24 hour observation of all of the large aircraft flights in the world, condensed down to about 2 minutes. From space we look like a bee hive of activity. What you will see, is a video showing air traffic around the world for 24 hours, taken from a Satellite.
You won’t believe this, but the yellow dots are airplanes in the sky during a 24 hour period.

1330200 2013-02-26 07:41:00 Good post, Tutaenui. I've just spent the last hour or so watching Sydney air traffic on FlightAware and listening to Sydney Air Traffic as well.

If you want to have a look-see-hear at Air Traffic Control in real time:

Sydney graphic (flightaware.com)

and

Sydney audio (www.liveatc.net)

Enjoy :D (Keep both windows open)

But nothing squawking 7700!

But nothing squawking 7700!I have difficulty locating the aircraft mentioned by ATC. What is the secret?, or is it just a matter of practice?.

1330204 2013-02-27 03:25:00 If you move the pointer to the wide white margin that can appear either to the right, that should identify most of the aircraft in a quasi air traffic control radar screen format:

eg

QFA126 B738
8000 278
NZAA YBBN

translates as

QFA 126 = Qantas Airlines Australia flight 126. Callsign is Qantas 126 B738 = Boeing 737-800
8000 = Altitude in feet (8,000ft) 278 = Speed in knots (278 knots)
NZAA = Departure (Auckland) YBBN = Destination (Brisbane)

If you move the pointer over the aircraft you'll get the information block displayed.

Hope this helps. Enjoy!
