Person X is on minimum wage, they don't own their own home, they rent Two cellphones on that much are a luxury. $19 plans per-month, each, IF they even have Cellphones. That or they get the $10 txt pack to communicate with each other during the day. Cellphone calls are a luxury they can't afford *Just* contents insurance, no need for house insurance if you're renting Ads / Website are a no-go if you're on minimum wage, not relevent. Rates are usually included in rent are they not? No WFF credits whatever they are. My website stays thanks. The ad stays until July too. Sky, nope, keeping it. Mrt - mortgage yes, and rates aren't included in it...LOL. Cellphones, mine technically could be a luxury but...nah, it's $30 a month....hardly life changing. It's MY budget. |

| 1330114 | 2013-02-27 02:55:00 | But are your tomatoes as good as mine? Dunno, how's yours? This year so far I have made 24 jars of relish, 5 1l jars of juice, 4 jars of sauce and given heaps of tomatoes to various friends and family, lived off them for a few months and they haven't finished yet, just went out and picked another 20 or so.... |

Exactly, you're earning enough to *be* picky, that's fine, that's your choice. Now imagine you are earning less and have two kids to support under the age of 5. I know that rates aren't included in a mortgage, I also own a house, but as mentioned if you're earning the minimum wage you're not going to be paying rates, or a mortgage, you're renting. You're forgetting that this isn't about pctek, this is about a fictitious family living on the minimum wage with two kids. That's why comparing your budget to that of somebody living on the minimum wage isn't really a good comparison. |

I thought it would be like that! That's why I've been using your photo of last year's effort :) (In a couple of threads, but you didn't notice...) |

| 1330118 | 2013-02-27 07:29:00 | The fact is there are two schools, one that says if I want to eat then I must work, the other says, if I want to eat, then someone else will work for me. Like it or not. | Cicero (40) | ||
| 1330119 | 2013-02-27 07:59:00 | The fact of the matter is, whilst we have over 160,000 unemployed, a McDonalds economy, manufacture nothing that other countries would beat a path to our door to buy regardless of exchange rate, then we are going to continue to have a low wage economy for the general hoi-poloi. High flyers should consider themselves lucky. Any remote chance of developing high tech. industries on the Swiss model (apart from a very few small innovative excellent firms) went out of the window with Douglas. |
