1330373 2013-02-27 19:28:00 There is a law that says not to kill them in a sanctuary and also not to refuel ships in the same sanctuary, both of which they are attempting. If less of the people in the world were Ostriches these battles wouldn't happen.

As I said I don't approve of SS tactics but the Japanese don't take any notice of court orders either

1330374 2013-02-27 21:15:00 International Maritime Law is just that, International Maritime Law whether you like it or not.

The Sea Shepherd is committing an act considered Piracy and as far as I know you are still allowed to shoot Pirates.

Their motives may be good, but the Law applies to everyone, even them.

Someone is going to get hurt and if it’s the Sea Shepherd they only have themselves to blame and it’s no good looking for sympathy, because if you get hurt undertaking criminal activity, Tuff.

1330375 2013-02-27 23:16:00 Why arnt sea shepard protesting the rape & pillage of the sea in General.
Why shouldnt whales be caught, how is that worse than any other type of fishing or hunting ?
They could start right here in NZ, species fished to near extinction, bottom trawling, by-catch dumped overboard.

Oh wait, fishies arnt as warm a fuzzy as Whales

They say the sea is cold, but the sea contains the hottest blood of all, and the wildest, the most urgent.

There is no need to make this discussion personal :(

1330379 2013-02-28 02:22:00 I also dislike the killing of whales but I dislike the Sea Shepherd Eco Terrorists a lot more. You cannot select which laws you wish to obey and ignore the ones that do not. Paul Watson is a proven pathological liar who is making a TV programme for the Discovery Channel. There are a lot of people making a lot of money out of the situation and is not the Japs. CliveM (6007)

But that's what prefect does:

1330381 2013-03-02 03:12:00 This is a political matter. Attacking the ships at sea does not change the law or stop the whaling. The crews are poorly paid employees of a large company who do it because the law/government allows them to. Long lines and drag nets are far more destructive, and are probably responsible for the starving whales. Unless something is done about preserving the whale's food chain they will be extinct soon anyway. mzee (3324)
