1330131 2013-02-27 20:43:00 Again, I'm glad you know my life better than I do. Or not... Don't be so bloody arrogant! (Or ignorant, I can't make up my mind)

If they wanted to, they'd find a cheaper place. I've been there, I had to. We moved for a saving of $12 a week.

We are what we think we are, that says it all.

1330132 2013-02-27 20:46:00 With respect, anyone who is on the bones of their arse and struggling making ends meet, does NOT need SkyTV.

As I say, it's in the thinking.

The world owes me a living.

Agreed. That seems to be the case far to often these days.

Don't be so bloody smug. Mr White working male with wife.
Two of them are brown, 2 of them haven't got jobs.
You think landlords are lining up to take them on? They try, they fail.

You have no idea not being in those kind of categories yourself.

I came across a landlord the other day who is putting up the rent of a working mum, because she is pregnant, Told her it's another $80 a week when this baby is born.
She works part time, he works full time on low wage.
They would move too if they could, they're still trying.
Oh and they are brown too.

Stuff you and the rest of you ivory tower lot, you think everyone sits around and doesn't try.

Goodbye and **** you.

1330135 2013-02-27 22:35:00 Colour has nothing to do with this.
They are denied because they are not employed, why should the landlord take that risk?

$80 a week seems rather steep, but he is entitled to charge something extra as a house is usually rented with a agreement stating how many people will occupy it and if the tenant violates that by bringing in another person (its irrelevant how that other person arrives or who it is) then the landlord has the right to redress that breach.

Quite frankly I am sick to the back teeth of these people "needing" more because of colour. Would you be championing their cause if they were white?

Bullshit!

I've been in exactly that situation, I honestly don't appreciate you telling me how my life has panned out or that my past and present experiences don't exist and never happened.

It's possible, I've been there, and race has absolutely nothing to do with it. I've also been unemployed, did you not read where I said my wife and I as newlyweds lived off $280-ish a week for almost 12 months? That's less than the benefit...

The nerve of some people, you really astound me!

1330137 2013-02-27 23:07:00 I agree with pctek here as a matter of fact, Chilling_Silence.
You are not in these people's situations, and so have little empathy, it would appear.
As a professed Christian, you are coming across as nothing more than a hypocrite.
Or are the teachings of your Lord only to be taken notice of, if they suit you?
Don't forget the eye of the needle.
You just might not 'squeeze through'.

A lot of you on here are not living in the real world and have become disconnected
with the lives of a great number of our fellow New Zealanders, their struggles and
efforts to gain that which you have in abundance.

Sad really

1330138 2013-02-27 23:27:00 I fail to see why my religion has any effect on the fact these people aren't able to move somewhere else, even in west Auckland, and save an *easy* $250-300 a week!

Explain to me where in the bible it says:
a) special treatment for brown people
b) they should receive a free handout from the Govt to get more money, or
c) its their employers responsibility to give them more than is required, so they don't have to give up any luxuries or live uncomfortably

Coz that part, not in the bible I read. Perhaps you would like to educate me on this religion you seem to know so much about?

On top of that, perhaps you would like to explain why my struggle to get to where I am is discounted because I'm either white, or because I've "made something" for myself?

Finally, you can explain to me how 3 people flatting paying $600 a week combined is good sense at all.
Chilling_Silence (9)
1330139 2013-02-27 23:54:00 I don't need to explain any of that to you CS.

But to conclude I will say only that the new testament is full of examples of your Lord condemning
the rich who do nothing for those less fortunate than themselves.
He also appeared to teach charity, forgiveness and humility
qualities sadly lacking in many so-called Christians in our society.

Good Luck to all here as I have had enough.

Dave
