But actually this is exactly what I found travelling in Europe a few years ago. We'd visit a tourist spot (e.g. Eger in Eastern Hungary, Salzburg, Melk in northern Austria, Bratislava in Slovakia or Cesky Krumlov in Czech - and just about everywhere else we visited) and found all the little tourist stalls around the main attraction (the castle usually) were selling the same cheap junky Made-in-China crap that you could buy at every other stall in the vicinity and indeed, across the rest of Europe. What made it more galling was that the trinkets didn't even relate to the tourist attraction - just generic crap, exactly like you get in that most horrible of Asian inventions, the $2 shop (and varieties thereof). So we ended up relying on photos alone as our memorabilia - as it happens, cheaper and easier to transport anyway! And with attitudes like Mr Dowling, that's exactly how NZ is going to end up (if it's not there already!). The only place that we found that sold relevant trinkets/memorabilia was in Germany at Rothenburg ob der Tauber....	johcar (6283)
