| 203747 | 2003-12-28 07:48:00 | Hi I'm looking for an 'instant chat' client in the mode of MSN Messenger, AIM, Yahoo etc to use exclusively on my network of PCs at home. I'm running 4 PCs with either Windows XP or Win98SE and just want to be able to instant message between them. Like, for example, when my daughter is downstairs playing a game or surfing the net I can "instant message" her that tea is ready and the message will pop-up on her screen whether shes playing a game or using a web browser. Is this possible and what's the best software -- how would I set it up on each PC? Many Thanks C. Ali |

I do have broadband and was just hoping/imagining I could use something based around the individual I.P. address that each PC has on the network. Cheers C. Ali PS: Good luck with guarding the gates of hell! |

If you are on the win 98SE computer just use winpopup Click on start > run then type in "winpopup" then you should be able to send a message to any of your computers, I think you can do the same in XP, I am not too sure, I think it is "netsend", but search Pf1 & you should be able to find the command to do it. Hope this helps |

| 203753 | 2003-12-28 09:04:00 | Thanks Chill "Googled" and came up with your suggestion plus several other appns which were all 30-day trial downloads leading to purchase so decided to have a play with one called Message Pal which works well. Cheers C. Ali |

| 203754 | 2003-12-28 09:04:00 | I've used a freeware program called Message Popup II. Simple to configure and use. Used it on a LAN in school and kids had heaps of fun. Can be downloaded from msgpopup.hihome.com Cheers Lucy |

| 203755 | 2003-12-28 09:06:00 | Thanks Lucy I'll have a look at it -- the only ones I'd found to date (as I was just relating to Chill) were all trial downloads leading to payment so nice to know there's a good freeware option. Cheers C. Ali |
