203620 2003-12-28 22:40:00 > So Actrix is pretty good huh? How much is their flatrate deal??? and no sudden dis-connections ever?

They are good but they do not walk on water and I don't know any that do.

> Do they alsp have that 3 months in advance scheme like Slingshot?

Have a look on their website for their plans: www.actrix.co.nz.

Brewer, could you please use non-offensive language in the future? This is a public family forum .

203623 2003-12-29 07:54:00 Don't know what your usage pattern is but I have been using the Clearnet 150 plan for over a year now. Seems to be a reliable ISP. No busy signals, good download speeds. Free scanning of email and spam scanning all for $14.95 per month. alanj (5039)
203624 2003-12-29 08:31:00 I crave your pardon S but you happen to have repeated my ''offense''. I was merely echoing the initial post in a whimsical way and after all, it`s Anglo-Saxon language which merely means ''bottom''. Part of my heritage. Er, language that is. Anyway my bottom is .......... brewer (4389)
203625 2003-12-29 22:23:00 I know everybody loves to bag Telecom but Xtra IS the biggest ISP out there , therefore able to cope with more users & traffic than the smaller providers. The service is second to none , phone help is free 24/7 and they usually speak english.
I have proven many customers problems to their (other) ISP .
Remember that most ISPs will blame all problems on your phone line, and if you call out a Telecom serviceman for a problem that is NOT Telecom's fault you will be charged for the visit , so your cheaper ISP could end up costing you more!

203626 2003-12-31 02:43:00 you obviously don't want to change twice so big decision.
i am part of a string of people who have on succesice recomendations gone to orcon. all have good reports. some on jetstream some on dialup.
only bad thing is the limited hours of the help desk. however the help desk at orcon don't rush and are extremely helpful.
their fee's are as good as any also.......and i don't work there either.

203627 2003-12-31 05:27:00 My opinion would have to be for Ihug.

They've been around for some time now. Their 56k services are brilliant, service is good, and they don't suddenly drop down to Xtra-type connections whenever school holidays begin.

What was IHUG?? For memory, it was Internet Home User Group... or something along those lines... anyway, I'm of to Woosh, Xtra JetStart is... useless.

Happy New Year.
