Open up the case and somewhere on the motherboard should be it's model number in a reasonably sized text and not the small stuff that is scattered throughout the side of the board telling you to plug X into here.
Different mobo manufacterers place this in different places, however it's most common to see it somewhere in the center of the board, close to the CPU or on the edge of the board.

After reading Terry's link to a very good website, I've realised that I haven't installled an important file to make the Win95 have USB support (only installed 1 out of the 2 needed). If I still can't get the scanner going, I'll try your idea (however I don't think my friend is too keen on me opening up his computer). somebody (208)
