2003-12-30 04:38:00 | I got called to look at a customers PC and he is having strange problems with his mouse (and no the mouse hasn't had too much Christmas cheer :D ). It may well be hardware but I didn't have a spare mouse with me to try. I ran AVG to ensure that it was not virus related and it turns out he had Nachi. So I got rid of that but the problem is this there. It is intermitant. The pc is performing fine, then the machine goes crazy like the mouse buttons have been pressed very quickly and windows pop up everywhere... then the mouse will just stop working. | Dolby Digital (160) | |
2003-12-30 04:47:00 | What sort of mouse is it DD? Serial, USB, PS2, Infrared, wireless etc. My guess is that in the absence of any hardware fault, either the drivers are munged or it is sharing resources with something else that doesn't play nicely. If serial check for IRQ sharing on com ports. Cheers Billy *<8-{)

2003-12-30 04:59:00 | Sounds like the classic signs of a mouse dying. I had a faulty mouse which randomly misbehaved - windows poppings up everywhere, click once and you got the results of having clicked three times etc. Try cleaning it if it has not been neutered and/or a different mouse.

2003-12-30 12:03:00 | I have this same problem with a ps/2 mouse on a AMD K6-2 computer. Tried several mice. It works fine with a Serial mouse in Com1. Another odd thing with the same computer is if you back space over text it will highlight it. You tap the shift key & it recovers. Tried several key boards. Also sometimes it prints a string of aaaaaaaaaaaa all on its own.

2003-12-30 23:32:00 | This happend to my Mircosoft mouse too: the scroll scrolls by it self, the cursor moves and click around the screen randomly and it sometimes doesnt respond. I think it was the wire between the mouse and the computer that was causing the problems cause my mouse wire did have some black skid marks from scratching my computer desk every time I pull out the keyboard tray, any way; I found that if I put the wire in different positions, the problem goes away untill the wire is moved again. Now the mouse doesnt work any more :( | James Busby (341) | |
