204200 2003-12-30 09:08:00 Win XP Home.

What are the relative benefits of using chkdsk vs the error-checker?

Thanks

204201 2003-12-30 11:50:00 Chk-disk is obsolete & was replaced with Scandisk which will repair errors, chk-disk is not as powerful.
You can not scan XP when it is running, if you schedule a scan it will reset and scan before XP is booted.

204202 2003-12-30 12:51:00 Actually in XP and 2k scandisk no longer exists there is only chkdsk. If you are truely worried about your disks Spinrite is the best of the lot. mikebartnz (21)
204203 2003-12-30 21:22:00 Thanks guys. Yes, I know Scandisk as such does not exist in XP and chkdsk is an option but there is an error-checker accessed thru' My Comp/R.click c:/Properties/Tools & I just wondered what the benefits of either were.
