| 204018 | 2003-12-29 10:30:00 | I wanna reformat my computer before taking it into shop so they can fix my mouse...(see thread on laptop warranty) but i dont wanna lose my 4-5 gig of stuff on it and no none of it is illegal... can i make a image and fit it on a 700mb cd or 2...and when computer is fixed can i put this hdd image back onto the hdd? using winxp home |

| 204019 | 2003-12-29 10:41:00 | When I first loaded my laptop, I took an image (before I loaded any "junk") of the OS and applications (Office etc) Using Ghost, it took 6 CD's, if thats an indication. Its a similar laptop to yours. I would be surprised if they delete your HDD contents while fixing the mouse, but you should have a backup anyway. Its actually quite easy to remove the HDD. 2 screws and it slides out. If your files are mp3/jpg types they will not compress, so 5 GB = 7 or so CDs |
