| 204756 | 2004-01-01 12:48:00 | Whenever I open or start a new document with notepad it adds its own lines. This is the weirdest thing i've seen. It usually puts reated somewhere in a opened document and in a new one it adds Created Activated Activated Activated Activated Activated Activated Activated Activated Activated to the very start and keeps adding Activated every now and then until I tell it to ph*ck off. Whats going on here? This is so random! |

| 204757 | 2004-01-01 13:24:00 | That's bizarre - must be a virus? If you don't have your own anti-virus app then suggest you buy one or download a free one or do an online scan. | Greg S (201) | ||
| 204758 | 2004-01-01 23:30:00 | Oh nah... couldn't be a virus, my computers closely monitored with NAV 2003 and NSW 2003 along with zonealarm (albeit the free version). My guess is Windows is doing something that it normally doesn't... like the code is suddenly appearing for some reason. I didn't really notice it until I installed the .NET framework files... |

| 204759 | 2004-01-02 01:16:00 | How long has the .Net framework been out? Longer than a year, I'm sure. And have I downloaded it? No. Don't want it, don't use it, never will use anything that requires it. Just try removing the framework (is it actually removable though?) and see if it goes away. |

It does not matter what anti-virus or firewall you install when you allready have the biggest and most dangourus virus of all allready running. Get rid of bimbows and your problem will be solved <grin > On the more serious side either ditch .net or check that you have not enabled the debug options by mistake. If you see mdm.exe as a task kill it and stop it from starting. May help if you MUST keep .net. Although one virus is enough for anyone! |

This is a computer help forum, not a computer bias forum. If you don't like a certain piece of software, that's fine, but don't go offering "advice" that isn't useful. What would be the purpose of ditching .net? > If you see mdm.exe as a task kill it and stop it from starting. May help > if you MUST keep .net. Although one virus is enough for anyone! Net isn't a virus. Don't confuse people by saying that it is. > .NET is a spy? **** never new that... only got it so I could run DCHub > software. > Say goodbye .net! No .Net isn't a spy. Its quite safe to run, however it might be resource hungry, depending on what it's being used for. It could possibly have been caused by the "DCHub" software? Mike. |

I am not fussed about .net either way, but my experiences with it have been "so so". I had endless problems with general stability and plenty of memory leaks to boot. If it is not needed why not free up system resources by getting rid of it? Also one less thing that a virus can exploit and one less thing to worry about updating. Also if you read I did offer some advice..... > > > If you see mdm.exe as a task kill it and stop it > from starting. May help > > if you MUST keep .net. Although one virus is enough > for anyone! > > Net isn't a virus. Don't confuse people by saying > that it is. Did I say it was? a humours referenece was made, pitty some don't have a funny bone<grin > True it is not a virus, but it is very usefull for viruses to exploit. A quick search will let you make your own mind up. > > > .NET is a spy? **** never new that... only got it > so I could run DCHub > > software. > > Say goodbye .net! > > No .Net isn't a spy. Safe to run and mickysoft in the same sentance, now that is a bold statement<grin > Gee anti virus vendors are gearing up for the flood of .net virus that will be comming soon, and last time I looked .net did not come with virus protection built in, so in order for it to be safe you will need some third party software, which many people dont have, or do not understand how to use it. Also your third party software needs to be updated and so it goes on and on. > > It could possibly have been caused by the "DCHub" > software? > > Mike. |
