205499	2004-01-05 13:19:00	Hi I have a sony 4-head Hifi stereo vcr that has had an annoying problem for years. There is a problem with the left sound channel in that tv reception does not pick up the signal ie NICAM appears but for the two level meteres only the right one moves. The left meter is stationary and you can hear hissing coming from the speaker (tv or stereo system). However this problem only occurs for tv reception (ie channels 1-4) playing pre-recorded tapes are fine, sound comes thru both channels. I have a second sony vcr (different model) that is also stereo and has no problem picking up both channels thru the same setup so I figure the problem is internal rather than signal based and wonder if anybody knows any probable causes and whether it is worth fixing cheers ravage	ravage13 (4361)

205502	2004-01-05 20:11:00	It sounds like an internal fault more than anything. If you connect the VCR to the TV using RCA cables, ensure that all are plugged in - left channel cable may be loose, damaged, or unplugged. If your TV signal goes into the VCR, then through to the TV, then this rules out that possibility. I would suggest getting it checked and repaired by a professional, as it sounds like an internal fault (blown component, loose soldering etc.) which would be too difficult to diagnose over a forum.	somebody (208)
