205433 2004-01-05 05:28:00 on power up the case speaker sounds in constant short RAPID beeps like you get sometimes when you overload the keyboard buffer also the keyboard lights flash constantly.

the system continues to boot
the system doesn't respond to any key presses
the fault occurs without a keyboard
the fault occurs with any keyboard
the power supply has been swapped with no change
the memory is seated correctly
the AGP is seated correctly
the BIOS chip is seated correctly
the System boots to Floppy with no key presses recognized
the system is just over 1 year old

any help would be appreciated

205434 2004-01-05 06:14:00 The beeping is the key piece of info.

When you say "continuous short beeps" can you confirm that it goes on forever?

Some BIOS's have 9 short beeps, 11 short beeps etc for different faults.

If not continuous, the number is critical.

205435 2004-01-05 07:14:00 definitely continuous skinnerjack (4296)
205436 2004-01-05 07:33:00 #1 guess is a bad power supply, but there are other possibilities.

However if you can borrow a PSU to try it would be worthwhile.

205437 2004-01-05 07:35:00 Check that the heatsink is still mounted firmly on the CPU as well.

AMI and Pheonix BIOS's can give this error for bad power supply and over-temperature.

A temperature would go critical in a few seconds with no heat sink in contact with the CPU.

205438 2004-01-05 09:06:00 as in the original post i have replaced the PSU with no change.
The fan is running and the heatsink is in contact with the CPU.
I am suspecting motherboard fault nes pas?

205439 2004-01-06 01:58:00 The keyboard LEDs flashing "sort of" indicates that it is stuck in the keyboard controller self test. The beeps might be coming from that, too. That probably means that the main CPU is alive enough to start the POST.

Are any other LEDs flicking? (disk detect, etc)

Does the power switch "work"? (start the machine, stop the beeping when it goes into the weeds?)
