205284 2004-01-04 19:12:00 PC Magazines of all sorts - PC World, etc. etc. are of great help. I have also found that simply reading posts on this forum have taught me a lot.

The best method I have found is hands on learning - simply giving it a go. Find yourself an old PC which you can rip apart and look at the individual pieces. Experiment with using software, read tips in their Help files, and most importantly just giving it a go. Set yourself a challenge to write a website which has various capabilities. Get it hosted free on a free webhost (www.freewebsiteproviders.com has a huge list), and learn about FTP while you're at it.

Good luck.

orcon(http://orcon.net.nz) is a better free host ;) (And you don’t get any pop up ads)

Surely you've seen them around.

PCWORLD - Applicable to NZ - good eating ;-) A few reviews here and there plus news.
PC AUTHORITY - Applicable to OZ with like 50 reviews on hardware and software plus news.
ATOMIC - Mainly a modders/overclockers mag with coool **** in it.
PC USER - Basicaly a mix of it all - Australian too I think. ?:|

PC World and Atomic come with one bonus CD while the others come with two.
