205347 2004-01-04 22:28:00 Hi everyone. I have a curly one I hope someone out there can advise me on. Best if I explain the application before I ask the question. I have a wedding coming up and don't want to use a videographer to wander around taking video. What I'd really like to do is use several static webcams (5 or so) strategically placed around the ceremony/reception area to capture low quality footage throughout the night. Quality is NOT a requirement. I Simply wish to combine low quality video from several sources simultaneously, then at a later date I will view the separate footage, edit the highlights to make a 20-30 video that I can burn to mini CDR's, and then send these out to our guests as a thank you. Our wedding invitations went out on mini CDR's as a Flash presentation and were very well received, so it would be nice to follow this up with a mini CDR of the wedding highlights. Perhaps colour security cams would be an option? I'm really open to any advice at all on this.
So my questions are;- A. Can it be done?
B. If yes, how would I configure it?
C. Recommendations on equipment required.
The event will take place over an 8 hour period approximately, so I know we're talking some major hard drive capacity here, but how much?
Thanks in advance, Chris

205349 2004-01-09 01:34:00 You might be able to stack a lot of USB web cameras to multiple execuitions of a capture programme. Or ethernet equipped cameras, and just pipe the outputs to disk. It would not be cheap.

I'm a bit concerned about cameras recording all sorts of activities in a well lubricated 8 hours. Maybe it could be a profitable exercise ... ]:) ... or if the editing wasn't careful enough it might lead to divorces.
