2004-01-07 04:38:00 | Just got my computer back, and I decided I needed an application to download music. I ran an old version of Kazaa Lite I had on CD, but it spat the dummy, apparently that version was "too old"?? Anyway, I have tried to get a new version of the software, but its nowhere to be found? Does anyone know what happened there? Secondly, whats the best P2P to use now? I have WinMX, but it doesn't seem to like my dialup very much. I have the option of downloading Kazaa (spyware, ewwwwww) eMule or some random app called Piolet. Opinions wanted. Cheeeerrrrrz.

2004-01-07 04:53:00 | Kazaa lite has been shut down by Sharman Networks who make Kazaa because it was reverse engineered Kazaa and was against their terms of use for Kazaa. If you read the Kazaa Lite EULA you would've read that use of Kazaa lite is illegal because it has been built by reverse engineering the Kazaa Media Desktop Program. As for the second question, while everyone has their favorites, the essence of sharing copyright files over the internet is illegal at the end of the day and has managed to sparked some heated threads in this forum and many others. Search and you will find. CyberChuck

2004-01-07 05:58:00 | It still works absolutely fine, but I suspect you'd need to use the latest or more recent version. I've created a temporary location to download it here (www.zulu.orcon.net.nz) | Greg S (201) | |
2004-01-07 06:24:00 | this is a tender subject as I heard one of the mods saying the BSA offers $5000 reward for dobbing people in for illegal downloads - and he had children to clothe and feed. Just lucky you didn't say what you were downloading. Kazaa Lite K++ is good but check this out... ftp://extremedevlopment.com/public_ftp/Using%20PhantomDC.zip Hope I don't get in trouble for this....

2004-01-08 03:54:00 | So is Sharman Networks going to come and shut down your orcon website.....? | forrest44 (754) | |
2004-01-08 04:19:00 | not flippin likely! I did a search fo rthat file on the Internet and there are dozens, if not hundreds, of privately run servers hosting it | Greg S (201) | |
2004-01-08 04:28:00 | Read Google's statement why they removed search results for non-legimate Kazaa (ie 'Lite') following a request by Sharman Networks, Ltd, owners of Kazaa, here: www.chillingeffects.org In that, they 'helpfully' list the Kazaa Lite URL's that were removed. J :D
