205811 2004-01-07 06:48:00 Hi,

I've Just bought this new graphics card (GeXcube Radeon 9600 XT 128MB), But I'm having trouble running Ureal 2:The Awakening, When I click on the game icon to start the game, a splash screen appears for about 30 seconds, then disapears with an error sound. Also if i play the game Will Rock, it starts it up to the in game menu then crashes my computer, which then restarts. I've downloaded the latest driver for the video card and reinstalled the games. I used to Own a Geforce2 MX 32MB and that used to run the games fine. When I installed the graphics card I Formated my harddrive and did a clean install of windows XP First.

Any help will be great
Thanks.

205812 2004-01-07 07:07:00 Do any games run?

Did u install the motherboard drivers after the format?

Is there any errors showing up in dxdiag?

Have you tried setting bios to safe defaults?

Have you tried running the game in 16-bit colour?

Why didnt you just bump your last thread?

Why does cheese go so good with everything?

205813 2004-01-07 07:18:00 welcome to the downside of ati products - their drivers and software are very poor in comparison to their nvidia counterparts... they've come along in leaps and bounds since ati invested in some nvidia driver engineers.. but they've still got a ways to go...

What version of the catalysts are you running?

In conjunction with Driver Cleaner it might pay for you to try every version back to 3.5 and see if any of those get you underway... also do a google search for omega drivers.. they're the best third party ati drivers available.

good luck.

205814 2004-01-07 07:47:00 I dont think its anything to do with the ati drivers. I brought the Radeon 9600 Pro (overclocked verison) 1 months ago and having problem playing C&C Generals. I upgrade and downgrade to every verison of the ati drivers and doesnt solve anything.

I think these new cards dont go well with the 4x agp motherboards (My case). brought a 8x agp and works all fine now.

also, try disable anti-alising.

205815 2004-01-07 07:54:00 nope.. a number of owners of 9000-9600's have been having problems that all appear driver related (apart from the odd bung card) I made the unfortunate choice of going from a crappy old Auriga 5200 to a Gigabyte Radeon 9000 pro and I've had to go through the same teething problems

AGP speed should be fairly irrelevant - if the card is 8x and your mobo is 4x, then the card will just run at 4x... and vice versa... automatic forwards/backwards compatibility is there by design

205816 2004-01-07 08:03:00 Yeah,a number of people are having problems with Ati cards.

And a number of prople are having problems with nvidia cards at any given time.

205817 2004-01-07 10:35:00 Thanks for your replys,

I've downloaded and installed the latest omega drivers and changed a few setting but i've still got the same problem. Do you think it could be my motherboard drivers? I may have to update them? My motherboard got a 4X AGP slot not 8X. Also do you think i have to change any setting in the Bios?

Cheers

205818 2004-01-07 10:57:00 If you would like to run dxdiag it may give some clues.

start>run>type in dxdiag and hit enter.

205820 2004-01-08 05:49:00 Check to make sure its seated in the agp firmly,And it wouldnt hurt to take it back to point-of-purchase to get it tested. metla (154)
