205713 2004-01-06 20:14:00 I have just got a new puter set up running XP home.
All worked ok until I loaded MS 12mnths free anti virus.
I had all sorts of problems but am left with 2 now I have deleted it.
On start up get the message:
Error loading C:\windows\bs3.dll.
Do I need that or how do I get rid of the popup?
When OE starts I get the error message:
A TCP/IP error occurred while trying to connect to the server. Account: 'Kjaada', Server: '127.0.0.1', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC15
I have checked and rechecked the settings in OE but nothing seems amiss.
I will have to set up my laptop to collect any ems in the short term.
I also had mailwasher installed and when I got mail it would not
process mail and send it to OE

205714 2004-01-06 20:20:00 try deleting the account and re-making it. this happened to my computer after making a new (user) account. it just needs re-telling where the server is.

it probably doesnt have anything to do with the missing file, my windows xp home computer doesnt have it but doesnt complain.

205715 2004-01-06 20:50:00 bs3.dll belongs to spyware and the application should be removed.
It causes problems with Internet Explorer.

It suggests you really need to clean up the PC with adaware and spybot search & destroy, as this may not be the only problem.

Look on Google for the removal instructions for bs3.dll

205716 2004-01-06 20:53:00 What antivirus are you using, it looks as if it is Norton, is it an old version or the latest.
When you setup the new mail account for the incoming mail server address use your ISP incoming mail server address and for the account name just your username.

If you continue to have a problem disable incoming mail scan in your Anti-virus program

205718 2004-01-06 22:22:00 'A TCP/IP error occurred while trying to connect to the server. Account: 'Kjaada', Server: '127.0.0.1', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC15'

127.0.0.1 is YOUR puter 'internal' ip addy.........try re making the account the problem could be caused by.........let me guess it's most likely norton antivirus........well that one does an email scan of all outgoing and incoming emails and what happens is it setup a 'proxy' so that email is channeled thru that.........

if you try disabling email protection it may come right.......this wont hurt and norton will tell you that..........all it means is that the program wont automatically scan emails however should you receive an email with avirus when you try to 'activate' or 'run' or 'open' whatever attachement has that virus norton should at that point intervene............

205719 2004-01-06 23:08:00 My puter tells me the bs3dll is missing and wants it put back on Colin (1006)
205720 2004-01-06 23:12:00 U did not read my posting.I was downloading MS antivirus and that started all this.It is to do with something my spybot or ad aware read as spyware.OR MAY BE ZONE ALARM but I deleted that as well and now it will not go back on as it says EZ is still present when I deleted every trace I could find of it. 205721 2004-01-06 23:28:00 Try this Colin,
1/ download this (homepages.slingshot.co.nz) program and install.
2/Restart PC
3/Start the JV16 program and go.... registry tool-tools-registry cleaner (untick "show ignored entries") then continue-start
4/On completion, from top menu select-all , then from bottom buttons, remove. (you may have to resize window to see bottom buttons)
5/ restart Pc and see how that goes.

GF is right though, that file is "spyware" and should be removed. Best removed by Spybot-search&destroy.
And leave that MS AV alone. Better off with the free version of AVG from www.grisoft.com

205722 2004-01-07 05:00:00 Outlook Express is solved easily...
Tools > Options > Accounts > Mail (tab)
Delete the account known as "Kjaada"

This will solve the OE errors as it is looking to 127.0.0.1 for a mail server - 127.0.0.1 is the loopback address for every machine with TCP/IP Installed - so because you are not running your own mail server there's bound to be problems!.

Then you will be left with one of 2 things:
1 - you have no accounts listed in the Mail Accounts section
2 - you will have 1 account left which is your ISP's email account or some other free email provider account.

If your result is you have accounts left there then close out and that's it!
If you have no accounts listed then click New > Mail and follow the instructions to setup your ISP's email account.
