| 205564 | 2004-01-05 23:34:00 | Hello, a bit of a long one I am sorry. Current specs are P4 2.4 512MB ram running winXP Home. current service packs up to date before christmas. this computer has been shutting down randomly for a few weeks. and now no internet connection at all. this computer has had two virus', one MSBLAST, and at the same time winshow.A Both have been removed successfully. Enabled the WIndows XP firewall and tried to connect to the internet, PC dials to xtra, handshakes, accepts username and PW, at the point of registering the computer on the network the screen refreshes twice and then no response from the internet connection, and the modem hangs up at this point i go back to the internet connections and the firewall has been disabled. does any one know or could hazzard a guess as to what this could be. |

Do you not get any error message or error number with the failed connection I would first delete your dialup connection in Network Connections and setup a new one. |

| 205566 | 2004-01-06 02:05:00 | Thanks for that, but I was comming back to say MAN i hate Spybot and adaware. I downloaded the definitions and stuff from adaware and spybot onto another PC and manually copied them over. They make me look like a bigger fool than I already am. I needed to connect to the internet to update spybot to check something else and by fixing another problem I fixed the internet connection. Thanks all the same. Wayne |
