| 206100 | 2004-01-08 21:03:00 | First of all I'm no hunter or weapons expert, but I believe AK47s and the Chinese made equivalent assault rifles were available in NZ, and were bought for hunting, but had to be modified for single shot semi-automatic operation. In fact they could be put back again to automatic, as I "often" used to hear the crackle of automatic gun fire from the Deer Stalkers shooting range at Kaitoke north of Upper Hutt, as some loony hunter let off a whole magazine. Then after incidents in Australia and at Aromoana (?), they were made illegal and were supposed to be handed in. However those shooters I knew at work said there are still lots hidden under beds, as they objected most strongly to having to surrender them. I admit I may be wrong in detail, but I think that is the general story. I doubt if they would be openly advertised now, but could be wrong. |

Like anything if you talk to the right people and have the aporpiate amount of cash then you can source anything no matter how specialised. however,Im pretty sure the items advertised in the paper will be what has already been mentioned |
