206062 2004-01-08 09:37:00 Is it possible to connect a notebook PC to a dial-up modem using wireless without a PC connected to the dial-up modem.
I hope this make sense I know Jetstream with a router would be better but its not a option at this stage.it would be so we can be portable with dial-up internet.

206063 2004-01-08 09:53:00 Yes you can, however you need a dialup-router in order to do this. Such items often crop up at Trademe and DSE sold one a while back.

What happens then is you connect the dialup router to your Wireless Access Switchy Modem thing (can't remember the name sorry) either through a switch or via crossover cable, set up your username and password through it's webbased server and then save your settings.

After that it's a matter of going around all the PC's and setting up a DNS Server and Gateway if you chose to have static IP's or you just let your machines boot and let the dialupserver or Wireless Access Dohickey assign this information to your machines by you specifying everything beforehand.
