206065 2004-01-08 08:05:00 Hi, i am just curious as to which is better for the computer. I know PCI dsl modems like to suck some resources out of the computer. Some people say USB makes gamin a spikey.

And i guess using a router thru ethernet uses 5/8s of f*** all to run

So what are advantages/disadvantages of each one

206066 2004-01-08 08:18:00 Ethernet ADSL routers are the best option.

No CPU overhead, as you say.
If a built in hub is included, easy networking and ADSL sharing
Hardware firewall for incoming packets (NAT addressing)
Never disconnect, even if you shut down the PCs.

USB and PCI are a security problem as they require a well configured software firewall to protect you.
