206015 2004-01-08 04:16:00 hi i have nero express on my computer. wondering what rate does it record songs at? the usual is 192kbps i think? _david_ (3309)
206016 2004-01-08 10:32:00 Im not sure that Nero Express rips songs. I know it burns .wav files, but AFAIK didnt do mp3's unless you purchased the mp3pro plugin.

Try Goldwave for ripping MP3's.

Play the MP3 in WinAmp and it'll tell you too :-)

206017 2004-01-08 11:26:00 Just had a play around with nero express.

By clicking the more button down the bottom a button is displayed called save tracks, After hitting that it checks the cd drive for an audio cd,the sonds on the cd were displayed and i attemted to begin the ripping process,Nero then insisted i needed to nominate a folder for a projected databass, which i did,Then i looked in the settings button where the options to change the bitrate were available,in order to see if i could answer the original question i left them all standerd and clicked "go"

Where upon nero took a good 4 minutes to rip an 8 minute song,Then when i looked into the folder i had assined i found 1295 IDX files.

lol.

Slow, complicated(there were a number of settings that seemed to contradict each other)and instead of a audio file i have 1295 i dont know whats.

Obvoiusly i missed something along the way but my initial impression is that this part of the program is very poor.Even if that is due to my failure to grasp whats goin on(hey,i devoted at least 3 seconds to it)

Cdex is free and far superior.

206019 2004-01-08 11:51:00 Bit of an update,Not only did i have a folder containg 5mb's of IDX files(what is that?...idx=index maybe?) but i just noticed an 8.9mb file in my documents folder.

Iron Maiden - Rime Of The Ancient Mariner.mp4

Nice one,an mp.4,thats great, excellent even. There i was quite happy with a reguler old mp3 but it seems its time to change the standerds and confuse the masses.

Maybe i should start a rumour that downloading mp.4's is completly legal.....
