205973 2004-01-07 23:05:00 hi all, this may be a OT but just not sure.

just out of interest i have wondered how many hours people spend on the net? (a month)

do you feel you get value for money? (not asking what ISP's)

all up hours?

how many hours is work?
how many hours is play?
how many hours is gaming?

and know im not asking to know isp stuff, just curious,

i spend only between 100 - 150 hours on the puter, mixed work and play i guess, and lots of it on PF1, (lower at moment due to no uni going on)
( i am on unlimited hours)

but i really have no major items / images or info to show for the hours i use..... dont do an awful lot of surfing it seems, but i shock most of my not geek friends with the amount of time i spend on here....

and maybe even some of the geek friends i have too.

205975 2004-01-07 23:43:00 I pay for 150 hrs a month ~ dial up. Use just under the 150 hrs so I don't have to pay extra :) Good Value at under $15.
Internet access hours are shared with my husband but I'd use 100 hrs. No gaming but plenty of surfing and getting info & prices for whatever we have planned. Checking out a couple of forums takes a while too plus e mails to friends & family. Work/Play ~ 25/75
Playing around with themes, graphics & spreadsheets offline ~ couple of hours a day maybe ;-)

205976 2004-01-07 23:57:00 on the net average 400 - 500 hours...Unlimited for 27.95 a month, thats pretty good.

Plus i dont disconnect.

I probably spend about 1 - 2 hrs gaming, 2 hrs surfing and another doing nothing

205977 2004-01-08 01:13:00 Good question Beetle,
My family tell me to much time ..
My friends who try to contact me or visit tell me all my time...
As for the reality...possibly 100-120hrs/per month on the box.Although only about 40% of that actually on the net, that being mostly forums,of which PF1 has the greater share of that, tho I do bookmark any site of interest,or helps me understand my computer, that is mentioned on this forum.
I am on unlimited use,but if I could get a meter or something to tell me acurately how much time I`m connected,I may find a cheaper deal.

Cheers DD.

205978 2004-01-08 02:04:00 Urgh don't even go there... i spend about 8->10 hours on the computer a day :S (except fridays and saturday's -- social nights) I start at about 7pm till 3am or something depending how fast i get bored.

3/4 of my time is in coding, the other 1/4 is surfing the net. Games are boring now, i've become too critical of them and i can't enjoy them as much as i used to :( I spent 203 hours on the net in December, school holidays didn't help :P

p.s. just wait till i get jetstart and then i'll be totally screwed.

205980 2004-01-08 03:37:00 I spend $24.95
and yeah i beleive thats good value for flat rate internet even if theres cheaper ones around....

and its rarely disconnected and yeah..i had the net on for 500 odd hours (Dec 1st 03 to Jan 1st 2004)last month AND i was certian i wasnt on for longer than 1-2 hours a day...i just leave it on really..no reason to disconnect...

and all my hours are personal really, emails, no gaming... news..pressf1....sometimes the odd download really but not really...

205981 2004-01-08 04:48:00 I spend about 12 hours on the computer a day, most of that time I am connected to the net with Jetstream Starter. Wilky (776)
205982 2004-01-08 06:50:00 Stu, im interested to hear from any body, dial up or other, just trying to work out what may be a normal or average amount for usage i guess....

thanxs for the replies so far every one, makes me feel a little less bad for the amount i do...... so approx i may be spending only 5 hours a day on the puter???? see thats not so bad.... :D

might not be so good either...... but cant be any worse than the 4 1/2 hours in various waiting rooms today can it???? at least the net is entertaining....
