For me I use Windows XP Pro as my only O/S lately. Is one better than the others?

Just use what you want!

205933 2004-01-07 11:59:00 Microsofts best OS... Windows 2000, hard as a brick
(XP - stable as a 44 gallon drum raft in the tasman sea:-P)

Linux... Probably Red Hat by the sound of things... oh, with Xfce.

Mac - MacOS X by far... Unix based, beautiful GUI...

Out of all... hate to say it but Windows is the most popular. But Mac is beautiful:x

That is a really hard question. Indeed steak, lamb or chicken? User preference/dreams(macintosh:D). I like chicken the best but I do eat steak sometimes....

205935 2004-01-07 12:09:00 Steak, Lamb, Chicken.... You forgot Fish. :-)
I have used all the above.
Mind you. I never tried to run Termail using fish.
It may be possible but never tried.

It is definitely possible to use Termail using MSDOS 3.3, Win 3.1, Win95, Win98, Win98, and Win XP Pro.

Ooooopss forgot Corn, Spuds, Carrots ETC.

I'm thinking about becoming a Vegetarian. It's not because I like Animals ( much ). I just HATE plants. :-)

Actually I think that gourmet smoked ham you get from deli's is the best.
mmmmmm....

I could see this turning into a post about food.

205938 2004-01-07 18:52:00 The best os is personal choice.

There is no good os, and no bad os.

I prefere linux because of its distrobuutions and such.

Others may like windows because of it's combatibility or range of programs.

Then others may choose mac because of its stability.

205939 2004-01-07 20:57:00 Yeah, Im not too sure of the exact background of it, but IIRC, its something like this:
When windows closes down an application, it attempts to clear everything related to the program from RAM. Only its not terribly good at it.
From what I understand, that's why the Page-File usage goes up (Its not as though its already large enough) on windows PC's if you leave them running for long enough.

Ive talked to a friend of mine who's a programmer for Microsoft, mainly specialising in MS Office, however he's talked to his collegues and they've asked friends etc, and none of them know quite why the swap file starts off so huge when there's more than enough RAM free, or why it needs a 700MB file, even if its only using 150MB of it in the first place?

I think that is the underlying flaw...
Dont get me wrong, you can keep windows up and running, just... its... try and open your programs and keep them open ;-)

Cheers

Chill.
