206209 2004-01-09 02:12:00 To all those Linux fans (and anyone else who wants to have a look :))
I found this (http://www.geexbox.org) yesterday and had some fun trying to get it to work but got there in the end.

It seems there is a problem with the latest ver 0.96 and the CD won't boot so I downloaded V0.95 and got it working OK.

It's just a media player that boots off the CD that you write from the downloaded ISO, which is under 5MB!, and it can play DVD's (if you have a DVD-ROM) VCD's, DivX, MP3's etc.

Have look a look! It's pretty cool!

206210 2004-01-09 07:34:00 I tried it about a month back. Its not bad, there's another like it Called MoviX or something IIRC...

Not terribly much point for my PC running Linux already with mplayer ;-)

Knoppix has come in handy though for playing a DVD in a hurry, and it helps that I've got this on a mini CD-R, so I agree that it is a good download :-)

...Just needs a patched kernel to support the XBox ;-)
