| 206519 | 2004-01-10 10:54:00 | While using this version of AVG I attempted to run a non-scheduled update via the Virus Database Update button. It would bring up the Control Centre dialogue box but it contained no tabs or Update Now button hence there was no access to an update link. It was necessary to go the AVG Free Version Update page www.grisoft.com and download the update manually into the [AVGfoldername]\update folder. Note that there are several updates on this page depending on whether your last update was 559, 558, or earlier. AVG then updates its files as usual when next fired up. | Robin S_ (86) | ||
| 206520 | 2004-01-10 11:03:00 | I update manually twice weekly. In fact I have almost never waited for the scheduled update to occur. Have never encountered the problem you describe but I have had occasions when AGV would not restart automatically following an update. It is then necessary to restart manually. I have also encountered corrupt downloads of updates a necessitating downloading again to get everything installed and working right. However, now that the updates are so small, this is never a problem. |

Your comment about the non-auto-restarts was interesting. I used to get auto restarts regularly but haven't had one for months I think. I do as you do - restart manually. |
