| 206534 | 2004-01-10 10:14:00 | I have recently been given a computer by my sister who has upgraded. The computer is almost 3 years old, and running Windows NT4. The problem I am encountering with it is that the CD ROM drive is not detected. It does not show up under "my computer" or in the "disk administrator". I have reinstalled the drivers for the CD ROM (obtained from the manufacturers website), and still no luck. The drive has power to it and all the cables are secure. Does anyone have any idea what I should try next? Unfortunately I don't know much about the history of this machine. Thanks for your help. |

| 206536 | 2004-01-10 10:30:00 | how do I find that out? Sorry... I'm good at using the computer, just when things go wrong.....not so good!! | jend (3245) | ||

| 206540 | 2004-01-11 22:59:00 | Sorry i should have given more information. It is a desktop PC. The CD ROM is a Diamond Data 50x. The eject button works and when the pc is booted up the light flashes. But that is about it. The drive doesn't appear in " my computer" or in the disk administrator. The PC is running windows NT4 workstation. The CD ROM did work for my sister when she had it, but the computer was blue screening on her all the time which is why it hasn't been used for around 6 months (she bought a new one and left this one on the shelf.) The PC itself is around 3 years old (she bought it new). There were no issues with the CD ROM only the blue screening for her. Hope this helps. |
