| 206435 | 2004-01-10 01:46:00 | Our XP Home computer randomly crashes, and when looking in the system log there is always the following error just before the crash: ACPI BIOS is attempting to read from an illegal IO port address (0xcfc), which lies in the 0xcf8 - 0xcff protected address range. This could lead to system instability. Please contact your system vendor for technical assistance. If I disable ACPI in the BIOS, windows does not load (it just freezes). |

| 206436 | 2004-01-10 01:57:00 | Leave the ACPI turned on in the BIOS as you will need to re-install XP if you wont to turn it off. Have you done any mother board driver updates? Have you run the system file checker? |
