206281 2004-01-12 23:31:00 Thanks very much for that link, Chill. I have set it up and it is working fine. At last, after puzzling over how to connect to my satellite connection through a network I've been shown how to achieve it.
AnalogX was dead easy once I got my mind set right and then setting up Remote Disconnection Utility gives me the ability to connect/disconnect from the client computer. Win ICS, who needs it! There is actually a lot of excellent free software out there.
I'd be very interested to hear how mwaller has got on.

206282 2004-01-13 20:24:00 Thanks to all - the analogx proxy server sounds like it might be the answer.

Now, that will help me with sharing web browsing services, but I have a number of other applications I'd like to use the Ultra link for as well.

They include:

Cisco VPN client software
Lotus Notes client software
Outlook Express email client
Norton Antivirus (for virus updates)

I'd like them all to use the Ihug Satlink as a fast (at least one way) IP connection - is analogx going to let me do this too?

206283 2004-01-13 20:38:00 Yes. Once you set the Proxy Server in Internet Options, then all programs should make their way to the internet through the AnalogX proxy server without problems. If it refuses to work, you'll have to set the programs concerned to use the proxy server manually. somebody (208)
206284 2004-01-13 21:50:00 Im pretty sure that Lotus Notes have their own Proxy settings, however Outlook Express and NAV should get their settings from Windows/IE :-)

Good to hear you guys have it going well :D

206285 2004-01-13 23:22:00 One of the first things I did once I got AnalogX set up was use it to update AVG which is the anti virus software I use on the laptop and it worked fine (the update that is, not too sure about AVG), fast too on the sat connection, it used to be a proper pain trying to update on the landline, speeds of 3-5 kbs/sec. So I suppose NAV would be kind of similar. jcr1 (893)
