I would also suspect RAM, maybe not matching the motherboard and or chip speed. When I purchased my components I was told that certain types may cause problems with certain boards. I am sorry I don't know enough about what types etc, however it could be worth looking into.

What type of RAM are you running? PC2700/3200/3700 + DDR266/333/400 etc?

206233 2004-01-12 22:13:00 One thing i noticed you didnt mention was your video card. Had a quick look at the specs of your mobo and see that it has 8xAGP. Check in the bios that its set to the correct speed for your video card. A lot of lockups can be caused by incompatibilities between mobo's and video cards. Can you try installing with an old PCI card? There is also a possibility that the CPU is overheating causing the machine to lock, so check the airflow and that the fan is working ok, same with the one on your video card if it has one. demonmors (1299)
206234 2004-01-12 22:57:00 Hi Growly,

Please check all connections, RAM, video card, sound card, ide cable and all the wires from the casing and PSU to the motherboard are properly seated or connected and restart your computer.

Good luck

206235 2004-01-13 00:30:00 Thanks everyone!

Well, irrelevant of the fact that I got it to work by reinstalling it, those are all very valid points. Nevertheless, I'm still having countless troubles (see my other post "Slow windows processing").

Everything was plugged in correctly, but the video card was 8X, and i scanned the BIOS and there was nothing in there about speed, maybe it was a jumper? Anyway, i looked in the manual and found jumpers only for things such as Wake-On-Lan, or whether to wake up with the keyboard.....

Unfortuneatly i dont have any other PCI cards, but i do have an accelerator, which needs an existing card to work :(

Will keep u updated :D
