I have this MSN explorer and windows messenger . i want to remove them because i already have MSN messenger 6.1 . and when ever i open MSN explorer the windows messenger also opens up ..(since i have MSN messenger 6.1 and internet explorer already running i have no need fer these two)

i went to the control panel and "add/remove programes" but they are not listed there. i ran a search on them and only found their shortcuts.

i want to remove them completely from my hard drive . Don't these come with proper uninstall program?
please help

As for your Windows Messenger predicament, this (grc.com) will explain everything, and give you a freebie program to fix it.

206518 2004-01-10 14:35:00 I think you'll find that isn't the service he is talking about .

He is talking about Windows Messenger, the "corporate" equivalent of MSN messenger, NOT the Windows Messaging Service which is what the link you have posted is related to .

To remove Windows Messenger from Windows XP, download the following free tool (currently hosted on some ISP webspace of mine) .

To get rid of MSN Explorer try the following on WXP:

On the Start menu, click Control Panel .

In Control Panel, click Add or Remove Programs .

On the Add or Remove Programs page, on the left navigation bar, click Add/Remove Windows Components .

On the Windows Components Wizard, under Components, use the right scroll bar to scroll down to MSN Explorer .

Clear the MSN Explorer check box .

Then continue through the wizard, something along the lines of Next, Ok, or Yes .

And of course being Windows I can almost guarantee you'll have to reboot once you're done .
