206644 2004-01-11 03:25:00 I have a 486 running windows 95 with a SCSI scanner. I have installed mira and when I run imaging, it says ASPI for WIN32 not initialised, and when I click ok, it says there is no SCSI card detected. It has worked before, what's wrong?

206645 2004-01-12 01:58:00 Is the SCSI card a very small one which came with the scanner or a "brand" card such as Adaptec?

"Proper" cards usually have a BIOS extension rom to make the SCSI interface visible to the OS software. (Adaptec usuually put their logo on the screen during the boot up while it is initialising things).

If you haven't got such a card, you will need a SCSI driver for your one... you might get that from the scanner manufacturer's web site. (if you can't find the installation floppies). I am guessing that this is the problem --- somehow that driver has been clouted. So the ASPI driver can't find a SCSI device to interface to the OS.

206646 2004-01-12 02:00:00 Firstly check the device manager to see if the SCSI card is present and having no prolems.

The ASPI drivers windows needs can be downloaded from http:://www.adaptec.com

Also a driver for the scanner is needed. If you have installed a NEW scanning package it may have removed / damaged the needed driver for the scanner.

If this is the case check your old scanning software and see if you can install the driver seperate from the rest of the package.
