2004-01-11 03:23:00 | I have a 486 running windows 95 with a SCSI scanner. I have installed mira and when I run imaging, it says ASPI for WIN32 not initialised, and when I click ok, it says there is no SCSI card detected. It has worked before, what's wrong? Leslie

2004-01-12 03:11:00 | LeslieW, The error message may be caused by corrupted or outdated ASPI drivers (after installing other software). Go to the Adaptec (http://www.adaptec.com/) website to download the latest (or any) ASPI layer version. You will need to download and install the ASPI32.EXE file, click on Search and as the search string enter aspi32.exe. This will bring up a page with the Jan 15, 1999 driver for Windows 9x for you to download. Or if that is no good then from the same Adaptec site from the Support | Downloads | SCSI Software | Windows ASPI Package | Then under the Windows 98 section look for Windows ASPI drivers version v4.71.2. Cheers, Babe.

2004-01-13 04:24:00 | Thanks for trying Babe Ruth. I followed your instructions and even downloaded aspichk which told me that the driver was installed correctly and working. Device Manager tells me there is no driver installed. The "ASPI for win32 not initialized" popup still appears and then "SCSI card not found" pops up. Any more ideas greatfully accepted :(

2004-01-13 07:20:00 | Maybe silly question - have you updated the drivers from in device manager? :p | Growly (6) | |
2004-01-14 01:17:00 | If it is a "special" card, which works only with that scanner, it will almost certainly require its own driver before a standard ASPI driver can talk to it. These proprietary cards have one chip on them -- not a real standard SCSI interface. | Graham L (2) | |
2004-01-15 22:46:00 | Yes. I did try updating through Device manager. Each time the device manager still shows no drivers installed. | LeslieW (5096) | |
2004-01-15 22:50:00 | SCSI card is an adaptec 1505A. Scanner is an Acer 310S. Windows 95 sees and installs SCSI card. Windows 95 sees scanner as a a Colour flatbet scanner_4. I have installed Mira26 from Driverguide .com as the driver for the scanner. | LeslieW (5096) | |
2004-01-16 01:20:00 | Have a look at this pointer to Setting up 1505a for W95 (www.actel.com). | Graham L (2) | |
2004-01-17 19:55:00 | Looked at the pointer but nothing new there. My son installed Paint Shop Pro and the scanner worked fine , twice , then when I had a go it came back with the same messages again. Hasn't gone since. | LeslieW (5096) | |
